Oh yeah, and I have one of my own.
While I may be a 'kid' person, I have never claimed to be a baby person. I have no interest in babies. They are cute and a bit cuddly; but they are also helpless and have no means of communication other than crying. and OH MY WORD do I HATE crying. I hate doing it and I hate hearing it.
I have been anxiously waiting for The Girl to no longer be a baby. People would say oh don't rush it, you'll miss the baby stage, you don't really mean that.
Whatever. I know how I feel.
While The Girl isn't really a toddler yet, she isn't so much the baby anymore. Currently she is still crawling, and yes, I don't like it b/c of the previously mentioned reason, but I do think its adorable. Her fat little legs squeak on the wood floor as she goes by. If she sees the gate open, she makes a beeline for it as quickly as she possibly can. The poor girl even has rug burn on her knees.
We haven't really let her crawl around upstairs b/c we don't have a gate installed at the top of the stairs yet. (It's an awkward situation between the wall and a section of railing up there, we've got to find just the right kind of gate that will fit, and yet won't cost us a fortune. Of course I'm almost at the point that for her safety, I'm willing to pay a fortune.) The other day C had The Girl in her room and I was down the hall in the office... he was letting her crawl, and she, seeing an open doorway went for it, got to the doorway, looked over her shoulder at her Daddy, smiled, shrieked and took off down the hallway, C followed her and said "The Girl" she totally knew she was 'caught', shrieked/laughed and went faster down the hallway away from him. He picked her up, brought her back to her room and told me to look in the hallway... soon I saw her little hands come to her doorway, saw just the top and back of her head as she looked back at her Daddy, then she made her move and busted down the hallway. C came out of the room and called her name again and she looked back over her shoulder and shrieked/laughed again. This has totally become a game to her now. At this point, she still hasn't seen me at the end of the hallway. C picked her up and returned her back to her room and the sequence continued again. This time, when she had gotten into the hallway a few feet, she looked up, and saw me. She shrieked and got hysterical laughing. She laughed so hard she flopped onto her belly. When she looked back up at me I promise you there were tears in her eyes from laughing so hard.
Seriously, how adorable is that???? I wish I had gotten it on video.
OH... Wanna see some TEETH???? She has 8 that are in, and she's working on another top one.
I gave her a few tastes of my fudge pop tonight, oh my word, her reaction was SO FUNNY!!!
