The Girl's 2nd Birthday

We waited for some friends to get back from vacation before we had her birthday party.... it was quite the success if I do say so myself. We had a lot of friends join us to celebrate (but still only about 1/2 of what we had last year!).
I was on a mission to find a cookie monster cake, The Girl is in love with Sesame Street, but Elmo is not her favorite, however it seems that all the affordable cake making places focus on the E guy. On Thursday after having searched pretty diligently for a week for a cookie monster cake I had a brilliant idea... I went to Samsclub and asked them to make the Elmo cake... in blue so that it would look like cookie monster. They agreed and YAY look what we came home with the next day:

We had a blast and got lots of great stuff for The Girl to play with and to wear. Seriously, we have the bestest friends in the world!

OH! I forgot to tell you... the eyes, (nose), and mouth were plastic. Elmo has a giant orange nose and um, Cookie doesn't, and the cake came w/ the elmo 'parts' already in place; the eyes and nose were one piece, so we gently lifted the eyes/nose combo off the cake, cut the eye circles which left a small amount of the orange nose still on the circles, then we placed the eyes at the top of the head of the cake (where Cookie's eyes are) into the icing until you couldn't see the orange anymore. Also the cupcakes came with little Elmo heads on them, which I removed and placed mini chocolate chips in their place. The Girl LOVED her cookie cake, she talked about it well into the night and even some today. Since we discovered last year that The Girl has some sort of food sensitivity (we thought it was food coloring, we may be right but we are still unsure the skin on her face breaks out when it comes in contact with some food items); I removed any colored icing from her piece of cake. She still broke out though but at least she wasn't blue and from what I hear we also won't have interesting colored diaper fillings. :) I'll leave you with that thought!

~til next time!

I might as well...

let the cat out of the bag...

we are starting our 12th week of pregnancy.

Yes, it was a surprise.
Yes, I do know what causes this condition... now! ;)
Yes, God still performs miracles.
Yes, I am still considered a high risk pregnancy.
No, we are not going to find out the gender of the baby before it is born.
No, I am not ready; emotionally, physically, or mentally.
No, this is not a joke. :)

Did I miss anything? :)
