Can you believe it??? I sure can't! She was so excited to go and when I picked her up that afternoon and asked what she thought she said "it was awesome!" Let's see how long that lasts! LOL

This was more like LABOR day weekend...
instead of memorial day weekend.
C spent HOURS all three days doing this:

He had to level out the ground so we could set up this:

This is gonna take a while...

The Girl was soooo excited (so were her parents)!

She couldn't wait tho....

Today it looks like this:

So far, I've been the only one to get in it. The Girl takes after her daddy and doesn't like it if the water is too cold. (babies!) :D

We're baaaaaack
Wanna know why you aren't seeing vacation pix here.... b/c I didn't take any!!!
Actually, that's not true, I took a few at the zoo, but that truly is it. I'm super sad and upset about it, but there isn't anything I can do about it now. The thing is when we went to Sea World we bought 2day passes and decided that we go today and look at the shows and stuff and then we'll know what to take pix of on the next day. Well, it got decided that we weren't going back this trip. It really is a loooong story that I won't get into here, if ya wanna know it, you'll have to call me. :D
The San Antonio zoo was The Girls first zoo experience and she was pretty amazed at it all. It was SUPER DUPER hot though and I think that really kinda kept her excitement down. Aunt D met us there and I think we all had a pretty good time, despite the heat.
Sea World was so amazing and I think I could watch the Shamu show 100 times and not get bored with it... of course watching The Girl watch it was pretty awesome too. :) She REALLY loves Shamu. Does the whole wave thing with her hands when you ask her about him too. TOTALLY CUTE!!!
At some point during our trip, I thought I pulled a muscle in my neck (come to find out it was really a pinched nerve) and I was really in a LOT of pain and quite honestly, since I pretty much live my life with a headache I think I can handle a bit of pain.... um this was close to sending me to the ER I was so uncomfortable. We found a mall with a massage place in it... where I paid a guy to "massage", no wait, VIOLENTLY BEAT ME for 20 minutes. It worked for about an hour but then I was pretty much back where I started. I couldn't do anything, couldn't look to the right at all and I couldn't even lift The Girl. It really put a damper on the rest of the vacation.
Friday was my birthday and C did the most amazing thing and gave to me an ipod touch. So amazingly cool, I'm totally in love with it. I also had a new phone waiting for me at home and at this point I was getting really antsy to get home and play! We got my new phone for $.01 AND on top of that we are getting a $50 rebate visa card! So in essence, I am being paid $49.99 for this new phone! WHOOOO HOOOOO!
Saturday we went to Six Flags and C, The Girl and I pretty much stayed in the lazy river in the water park all day b/c it was another SCORCHER! We did go do the kiddie pool thing and The Girl loved that. She LOVES slides and water so combine the two and she's a happy camper. I got about 3 inches of sunburn on my arms b/c I was wearing a shirt that had shorter sleeves than I normally wear, it looked pretty funny, now it's all browned up. I haven't been this tan in years though. I sure do miss it! The Girl has a bit of a farmers tan too even though we slathered her in sunscreen everyday. C got his typical red neck and face and more freckles on his arms!
OH!!! Speaking of C... his glasses have been close to broken for a while. He's had them for YEARS and really it was time for new ones, but we just never wanted to spend the money. You know how the saying goes: 'if it ain't broke'... well, they finally broke at Sea World. NOTHING could fix them. We tried. Even tried JBWeld, it still didn't hold. We got him new glasses yesterday. They are funky cool and I LOVE them. C is still getting used to them. I'll have to post a picture of him later.
The Girl is waking... so I've gotta go for now!

Easter Sunday
Rainy and chilly.
Bummer.
I bought The Girl's Easter dress probably 2 months ago, but didn't get shoes at the same time. I saw some in an ad a few weeks ago, mentioned to C that I wanted to get those for her for Easter, didn't get to that store. Last night, like a crazy person I'm out looking for shoes. We went to the store whose ad I had seen, no shoes that went with her dress. We hit Wallyworld since it was right there... no shoes (seriously NONE in her size AT ALL!). We went to 3 other stores and finally found some shoes at Target. C and I had looked at these shoes a few weeks, ago but I hemmed and hawed and said no, they are too much of a big girl shoe, I really want the white mary janes that I saw. Well, guess what was the only shoe left at Target last night... the white 'big girl' shoes. So I had to get them. The Girl was really excited about them, kept saying 'shoe, shoe, shoe' when I showed them to her. I put them on and she did this little shuffle w/ her feet... then fell. See, they have a bit of a heel to them. Nice mom huh? Give a toddler who is relatively new to the walking world a pair of wedges. Without further adieu....

I've got more pictures, but blogger isn't letting me post them right now, I'll try again later.

yardsales and craigslist...
gotta be one of the best things since the wheel, well maybe at least the Internet! :)
About 2 weeks ago, I was driving home from dropping The Girl off at a friends for a few hours so that I could get some things done around the house when I passed a sign bragging about a HUGE Multifamily yard sale... I did a 'u-y' and followed the sign... but wound up getting stopped at a different yard sale b/c I saw one of those little tykes coupe cars... I jumped out of my car, checked it over (not very well apparently but I'll tell you about that later) I was sooooooooooo embarrassed b/c I had my slippers on and I hadn't even showered for the day yet. They wanted $15 bucks for it, I happened to have the cash on me and I just KNEW The Girl would love it. Sure enough, when I got her home later that day and after her nap of course she was ALL SMILES! :D Now for the bummer part, needs a little bit of repair... C worked on it once, but already that has fallen apart, he's got another idea and we are gonna try that... keeping my fingers crossed that it holds this time.
(Please excuse my seriously messy garage. Thank you!)

Doesn't that face just make your day???
Now for my craigslist finds: I guess its been about 2 months now, but I found this WAY COOL train table and some accessories listed for $50 (totally worth A LOT more than that, but I wasn't going to complain). It was in a town that is close to an hour from me, but I happen to have a friend that lives in that town... after a few emails back and forth between my friend and the seller and myself... bam! its ours and I'm sooooo excited! :D
I'd post some pictures, but I want to do it when the track is all set up correctly. We had it that way once, but ya know how kids are... it was apart before I could get my camera out!
When The Girl is at my friends house they have these great outside toys, a slide, a motorized Jeep (sooooo keeping my eye out for one of those!), and a bunch of other great kid toys. Sometimes when I go pick up The Girl its like I'm kidnapping her when I try to take her away from either the slide or the Jeep. In the toysrus ad last week, they had the slide 'on sale' for $70! HELLO!! It's a PLASTIC SLIDE!!!! I mentioned it to my friend and she said she'd keep an eye out at yardsales or on craigslist for me. So we both have been looking, well last Thursday my friend sent me an email w/a link to a craigslist ad w/ the slide for $15. The seller and I emailed a few times, the ad said there was sun fading and some wear and tear. I asked how bad the wear and tear was, she said it had been heavily used for 2 years by her girls. I said that if my daughter was able to go up the ladder and slide down safely than it was perfect for me. She said that the slide fit my requirements. She also mentioned that there had been other inquiries and she was going with the first person that set up a time to meet. We agreed I'd call her at 8am to set something up. If you know me, you know that if I agreed to do something at 8am then I REALLY must have wanted it. :) I called at 8am, she said I was the 1st one to call to set up a time to meet so it was mine! YAY!!! (we met up at noon, btw) Told you mornings are just not my thing.
Well, when I pulled in the driveway, C and The Girl were already outside, we pulled the slide out and WAHOOO!! we had ourselves on VERY HAPPY little girl! :D Now anytime we pull in the driveway or open the door to the garage she starts pointing and says WEEEE? WEEEEE? WEEEEE? She LOVES LOVES LOVES the slide. I'm sooooo happy I got it for her.

She also loves to send her Madagascar dudes down the slide. Totally makes her day! :D

Please excuse my snorting!!! :)

Little Drummer Girl
Here's the deal, C is SUPER musically talented and I'm so totally not. The deal that we've worked out is that C takes the girl to choir and/or musicians practice, which they have once or twice a week, so that I can have a few hours to do whatever I want. Sometimes I just chill, sometimes I scrap, sometimes I have to use this time to clean the house. Tonight C emailed me this video he took of what happens at musicians practice. Sorry the quality isn't the best, its from his cell phone.
Enjoy!
Enjoy!

The Next Foodnetwork Star!
Not me of course, but The Girl thinks it could be her!
I was cooking after church last night and C caught her with the oven mitt on her hand. Please note that neither one of us gave it to her, she got it out of the drawer herself AND she put it on by herself! The fact that she knows how to do this kind of stuff may explain why I've put on a few pounds lately.

ch ch ch changes
Gosh what have we been up to???
The 5th anniversary of THE DAY has come and gone; I was extremely busy that day and into the weekend so I didn't take much time to focus on it. That could be a good thing.
Valentine's day we had a date and I wanted to get a new sink for our half bath downstairs (romantic, I know)... its a long story, but the short of it is that a previous owner 'fixed' a leak in the sink with DUCT TAPE!!!! I took pix of the old stuff and will post pix of the new once the mirror is cut down to fit. The new sink/countertop has a backsplash and the previous sink and countertop did not, thus making the mirror no longer fit under the light fixture. Plus I LOVE LOVE LOVE my new faucet! So way totally cool! :)
The other night, the 3 of us were in the family room hanging out, the girl has privledges that allow her to wander into the sunroom seeing as how that is gradually turning more into her playroom than 'the dogs room'. She has a tv/vcr/dvd player, a cd player w/a radio, a ballpit, and our newest accquisition... a train table and some tracks and trains (I LOVE CRAIGSLIST!) right now I think her mom and dad enjoy it more than she does, but I'm sure she'll grow into it. ;) ANYWAY... she was quiet and it was the kind of quiet that you go check out... so I got up and saw her in the hallway by the bathroom door, with her diaper on the floor next to her!!!! So we played the oh you wanna use the potty? game for a bit then we went to the store and bought her a seat of her own! I am sooooo not ready for this and she isn't really, but I wasn't about to discourage her in any way shape or form that's for sure!
C and I just had our 12 year wedding anniversary. For the record, I got married when I was 12. ;) The girl spent the night w/ some very good friends and C and I got to have a 27 hour date. We really enjoyed just hanging out and relaxing together. We got a couples massage and that was awesome! I see more of those in our future! ;)
Well, I'm pooped and I've got a few more loads of laundry to get done before I crash for the night...

an update on The Girl
Right now, The Girl can sign: more, please, finished, cracker, cookie, daddy, mommy, giraffe, book and cheese. Her first sign was 'more' at 8 months old. She shakes her head for no and nods for yes. The words that she actually speaks is mom, dad, 'ydney' wow, thank you, and 'Jogee' that is for our little dog, Josie, but she won't say Duke for the other dog. She also pats her leg when she calls 'Jogee', like she's calling her in or something. She knows a TON of animal sounds too... (I'll list them for you b/c some of them are funny.)
Dog: woof
Cat: meow
snake: sssssss
cow: moo
turtle: duuuude
sheep: hahahahaha (she laughs at it, I guess she thought we were laughing when we were doing it.)
fish: glub glub glub
Beatle: yeah yeah yeah (soooo fun!:D)
lion: roar
gorilla: ahhhhh (and she pounds her chest while doing it)
hippo: doesn't make a sound but she wiggles her hands on the top of her head like hippo ears
monkey: ooo ooo and one arm tucks up under her armpit
duck: quack quack
chicken: cluck cluck
bird: tweet tweet
crocodile: chomp and she claps her arms out in front of her
Ok, that's all I can think of right now...

I bought URINE!
and no, not for a clean drug test!
So that smell in our office that I mentioned a while back... we are pretty sure it was a dead squirrel. In the spring we had squirrels in the attic, we could see where they were coming in, got the opening closed up and no more squirrel noises! YAY! Well, the noises came back and then the smell arrived and I actually thought 'good, maybe that will scare them away'. I was wrong. The smell was gone after 3-4 days and the noises came back. C went in the attic to find out if he could see where they were coming in... nope, not this time. Last weekend, we bought one of those super sonic noise maker things that is supposed to mess with their heads and drive them out of our house. It's not working. However, while we were looking for them in the home improvement store, one of the guys working there told us that we needed to put some fox urine on cotton balls and that would keep them out. Yesterday, I bought fox urine. C and I decided that the best time to put it up in the attic would be after the squirrels went out for the day. This past week, around 7:15-7:30 every morning (and that is WAY early to us!) we'd hear all these scrambling noises and running around and whatnot and it would wake us up. Occasionally, C would bang/knock on the wall to try to scare them and occasionally it would work. Today at 7:13am C knocked and at 7:14am IT knocked back!!! Our eyes popped open, we looked at each other and we each said, "did you do that?" "No." C says, 'if they come down here and pee next week, we are moving. Deal?' You bet it is, Buddy!
Bad blogger.
I tried posting earlier this past week, had it all typed out and everything, but I wanted to add a picture and couldn't find the button to upload it, and then my whole post disappeared! Since it wasn't anything earth shattering, I gave up. I'm gonna try again now though, of course now you get the condensed version. :)
New Year's day we went to see the ICE! exhibit with my aunt. It was WAY cool! yes, pun intended! ;)

The poor girl was engulfed in that coat! She was a bit confused by it as well, seeing as how she's never worn one before! We enjoyed the exhibit a whole lot!
well, that's enough for now...

WHEW! That was fun!
Got tons to say and even more pictures, I'm just gonna throw it all out there and let you guys figure out what goes with what. OK? Good.
Christmas eve C got to stay home, so that was a small gift right there; I had made sauce earlier in the week for tonight b/c I had seen a recipe about adding good things to your diet without sacrificing taste... this one was substituting pasta with spaghetti squash. Now, if you know us, you know that we are not good about eating fruits and veggies AT ALL, and I'm starting to feel badly about that because of The Girl, so I bought a spaghetti squash. I cut it in half lengthwise and scooped the seeds out. At this point it is just like working with a pumpkin, it even smells like one. Then I sprinkled it with some extra virgin olive oil and S&P, turned them cut side down on a roasting pan and shoved those bad boys in the oven at 400* for 45min- an hour. They even smelled good when they came out of the oven, they smelled kinda like roasted chicken actually, ANYWAY... then I scraped my fork inside of it to make the spaghetti noodle things and put some parm cheese on it then sauce and then b/c I think it looks pretty, more parm cheese on top! I really enjoyed mine, and I really enjoyed knowing that I was eating something that was good for me. The Girl really liked it too. C says he had trouble with 'the texture', but that the taste was really good. I'm pretty sure he was just having a mind over matter moment. He never knew of texture aversion until he met me! So here's some pix of Christmas eve dinner...
Right out of the oven, the one on the left is all scraped up already, to give you an idea...

mmmmm, ready? dig in!

I decided to start our own little CE traditions, and made sugar cookies. This year, I didn't have an assistant, but I'm pretty sure next year I will. I did have plenty of helpers to EAT the cookies though!

At one point, she even managed to help herself to some cooling on the rack on the counter. Note to self: push items you do not want on the floor or in the garbage or broken or missing or in someones mouth... further away from the edge! You will do good to remember this! ;)
There was much playing and fun and love in our house this night!

yes, that is a dog bed, but what can I say? It's comfy!

awww kisses! I mentioned there was love, right? ;)

She had sauce on her face, he was only trying to help! :)
We were SO BLESSED on The Girl's 1st birthday that she had so many presents that I put away a few for her to open later, when I thought about getting them out for her I decided that it was too close to Christmas. So I wrapped them up Christmas style and let her have them again! Some of you may have seen these gifts before. :) Thank you, she REALLY loves them! :D
Christmas eve we let The Girl open one gift, I would start the tear, let her continue it, but as soon as a piece came off in her hand she thought she was done, so mostly she enjoyed me ripping the paper and of course I made a big show of it so it looked REALLY fun. :D That night's gift was a puzzle with animals on it, we spent A LOT of time that night making animal sounds. :D I'll try to post some video another day for you. :D I'm not sure when The Girl went to bed, probably sometime after midnight, I put the rest of the gifts out and took some pictures (for you guys of course), b/c we all know that I don't scrapbook! (grrr!!!)

Here it all is... except for the stockings, they are 'hung by the chimney with care'. ;)

ok, I'll post Christmas day later, got lots to do!

On the move!
and she's off!!!
The Girl is getting around on her own 2 feet!!!
She still would rather crawl, b/c she is better at it, but she has finally made deliberate independent steps. For the longest time, she has been holding onto anything and walking around, I thought she'd never let go! It was like she was always singing "I can't even walk, without you holding my hand..."! :)
Got a lot going on right now, our ladies group at church is organizing and hosting a ladies retreat in 2 weeks and I've got some work to do for that. I LOVE it!!! :)
I'll try to capture The Girl on video and upload that for you.... we'll see, she's pretty sneaky about walking still.
