If I've ever said anything on my blog about my dad it was most likely negative. I hate that, I really do. There are many relationships that are in my life that I wish were different, and the one I have with my dad is one of those. We've never been 'close', our rare phone calls last usually less than 10 minutes and I only see him once or twice a year. I will not get into details regarding my childhood, as those things cannot be changed, what is done is done. I can only hope for a better future. I called him last night. When we got off the phone, it showed that we talked for 29 minutes and 48 seconds. I need to let that sink in folks. Almost a half an hour! And it was all CONVERSATION. It was GREAT. It really was! At one point, he mentioned that there was a guy in his office who was a few years older than him, Dad asked him why he was still working. They guy replied that he needed the benefits. Dad told me that the man had 2 whole walls in his office covered in pictures of his grandkids. Shortly after their conversation the man died, in that office. Dad then told me of some of his own health issues and that he is considering going on short term disability and possibly for good. He said, get this, that he didn't want to die in his office, he wants to spend time with and enjoy his kids and his grandkids! :insert shock and amazement from daughter here: As we ended our call, he said, I love you, take care of yourself, and take care of my grandkid! That comment rocked my world. I don't know why, maybe its pregnancy hormones, but it did. I was on cloud 9 when I got back to the house. C even noticed and asked what happened. I related most of the conversation to him and he too was shocked but had a big grin on his face. One 30 minute phone call like that can heal a whole lot of wounds.
C has been sick. I mean S.I.C.K!!! He was bad starting on Sunday, I guess, but still went to work Monday morning, then to the dr on Mon afternoon... and hasn't been back in all week. He worked from home on Tues. & Wed., but on Thursday he sent his supervisor an email saying I'm in bed today. They pretty much left him alone too. Friday however, he got many phone calls from work and had to log in from home for a few hours. I finally got him to call the dr's office and say hey, what you gave me on Mon just ain't doin it. They called in a new 'scrip for him. Hopefully, this one will stop this virus soon. Unfortunatly, I think I'm coming down with it now.
Monday we see the Perinatologist for another level 2 ultrasound or sonogram. I don't really know what the difference is. I'm excited to see the baby again. Oh, guess I should tell you that I've started to feel some movement in there. I get nervous now though, when I don't feel the baby everyday, I know totatlly normal, but still... I'm high risk, and my aunt has had 2 stillborns, so I worry.
Had the 1 hour glucose test sometime last week, they called w/ the results on Monday... abnormal. I had to do the 3 hour on Wednesday, got the results on Thursday... abnormal. I'm expecting a call from a dietician on Monday. Soooooooooooo very bummed about this news. My fasting sugar level was fine, the 1st and 2nd hour levels were high, but the 3rd hour my level bottomed out. By the time we got home for lunch that day I was shaking like a leaf and couldn't get food in my mouth fast enough! Then I promptly took a 2 hour nap! :D
I *think* that is all for now, so,
till next time...
